It's exciting times for a re-emerging Marche off the back of revolutionary production changes for both white and red wines. Modernisation throughout the region has pulled the wines out of their bland, high yielding doldrums and into the spotlight on the world stage. Starting with the piercing, delicious, gravelly whites from sloping Verdicchio and Pecorino vineyards up in the high grounds to the modern day, rustic, skin contact whites – white wine is scintillating! Also commanding respect these days are improving reds like Rosso Conero appellation’s Montepulciano and Sangiovese blends are doing their best to keep up.
